PONTE VECCHIO CHALLENGE 2006
MediaVip and Conte of Florence presents:
Sixteen professional players representing as many nations, three floating greens, a bridge symbolic of a magical city: a unique event which the city of Florence is to host on December 16 and 17, combining a top class international competition with the pleasure of experiencing the history and the culture of Italy’s Art capital first-hand, not to mention its architectural beauty, the food and wine and all the shopping possibilities that Florence can offer, and what’s more during the Christmas period.
Back in 1997 Conte of Florence got the idea of bringing golf to the heart of its city, showing off champions such as Costantino Rocca and Federica Dassù from the
Ponte Vecchio bridge, who shot real golf balls towards a rowing boat anchored in the river Arno. Its success, among the public and the media, alongside the positive feedback from the players, together convinced
Romano Boretti – chairman of Conte of Florence – of the event’s great potential. Then, as of 2000, this event, in partnership with and co-organised by
Mediavip, was gradually streamlined in its format, to become a real sporting and media event, enhanced by sponsorship and related initiatives.
